PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – Officials have identified a Providence couple who died in August in what police believe was a murder-suicide.
The Providence Journal reports 32-year-old Arien Daly and her ex-boyfriend, 37-year-old Joshua Butler were found dead in Butler’s apartment at the Dexter Manor complex on Aug. 23.
Police believe that Butler shot and killed Daly, and then turned the gun on himself sometime that weekend. Police say he left behind a shotgun and a note.
It’s not known what led to the killings, and police have not disclosed the contents of Butler’s note. Daly’s godmother says the couple dated for several years and had recently broken up.
AIDS Care Ocean State, where Daly worked, plans to hold a memorial for Daly.
