PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – A lawyer for imprisoned former Rhode Island House Speaker Gordon Fox says campaign finance regulators have given him extra time to pull together campaign finance documents, as he works to sort out the campaign account that Fox pilfered.
Fox is serving a three-year prison term for taking more than $100,000 from his campaign account and taking a bribe of more than $50,000.
His lawyer, Albin Moser, says he met with staff for the Board of Elections on Thursday and they granted him a seven-day extension to file documents due Friday.
Moser told the board in a letter that he has had trouble accessing bank accounts and getting records he needs to accurately report on how much money is left in Fox’s campaign account and two others he had access to.
