Two people are in the hospital following an explosion and fire at a South Kingstown home. The state fire marshal, DEM, and the state bomb squad are on scene.
Two adult men from the scene were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
The call came in around 6 a.m. and when fire crews arrived there was an active fire. The State Fire Marshal John Chartier says there were also signs of an explosion.
Neighbors say the home on Hemlock Ave is normally unoccupied but it has been rented before.
Fire crews were able to quickly knock down the fire. The cause of the explosion and fire is under investigation.
