He’s been saying he is considering a run, but now a spokeswoman for former Rhode Island Governor Lincoln Chafee confirms he will officially declare his candidacy for President of the United States next week.
Spokeswoman Debbie Rich said Chafee will make the announcement during a speech Wednesday, June 3 at 5:30 p.m. at the George Mason Center for Politics & Foreign Relations in Arlington, Virginia.
Chafee’s impending announcement was first reported by Politico.
The 62-year-old Republican-turned-independent-turn-Democrat first announced he was considering a run in April. He has said his leadership record will help set him apart in the race.
