Warwick Police say reports of an attempted abduction in the city this week were unfounded.
On Tuesday, a 12-year-old student reported she was approached from behind by someone who tugged on her backpack and told her to “come here.” The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. in the area of Osceola Avenue and Clearwater Street.
Police say they conducted a thorough investigation and determined there was no attempted abduction. Officials say no children were threatened and safety was not an issue.
