As drivers pass by the Big Blue Bug on I-95 they may have noticed Nibbles Woodaway rocking a new pair of glasses. The bug is honoring contestant on NBC’s The Voice and Rhode Island Native Sarah Potenza.
“I seriously started crying because I just couldn’t believe it, all this fuss over me and just meant so much to me because I’ve driven by the bug all my life since I was a little kid,” said Potenza as she described the first time she saw her glasses on the bug.
During her time on the voice Potenza advanced all the way to the top 20 where she performed live.
Potenza said her time on the voice “was incredible” and was thankful for the opportunity. “At first it was really overwhelming because you don’t meet the coaches or go on stage until they throw you out there for the blind auditions. So you have no idea what’s going to happen, you go out there, there red doors open, and they’re like okay you can’t come back in, once the doors open you have to go out there and have to sing the song no matter what.”
Potenza ended up choosing Blake as her coach. She liked the fact she was able to stay true to herself as an artist throughout the entire process.
Potenza will be performing in Newport on May 14 before she travels back to Los Angeles where she will appear on the finale of the voice on the 19. She will then be back in Rhode Island in September to perform again. In addition to performing Potenza said she will be launching a kickstarter campaign to help record and release her first album.
