CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) – A principal and sister of a Rhode Island congressman admits she made a mistake after an ethics complaint accused her of using school resources to further her Statehouse campaign.
The complaint was filed April 24 with copies of emails from Susan Cicilline Buonanno’s school account to the Democratic Town Committee. It also said Buonanno used her school phone as a contact number on campaign finance reports.
Buonnano, the principal of Gladstone Elementary School in Cranston, calls it an “honest mistake” and is now using a new email for her campaign. She said she listed her school number because candidates had to provide a daytime contact, but has since changed it.
Buonanno is the sister of U.S. Rep. David Cicilline. She is running for a House seat in Narragansett.
