The fate of accused killer Aaron Hernandez now rests with the jury after the prosecution and defense made their closing arguments Tuesday.
Both sides spent a total of three hours making their final cases before the jury was dismissed with evidence to reach a verdict.
The defense made their case first, with Defense Attorney James Sultan saying there is no evidence or motive for Hernandez to kill Odin Lloyd, and that the investigation by police was biased and sloppy.
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts made the case that the former NFL-star murdered Lloyd because he knew information which could ruin his reputation and career. District Attorney William McCauley said Lloyd knew about Hernandez’s marijuana use, his $1,200 apartment in Franklin Massachusetts, and that he had made advances on his babysitter.
Hernandez is accused in the June 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd, who was dating the sister of Hernandez’s fiancée. He was found dead in an industrial park less than a mile from Hernandez’s home.
12 jurors, seven women and five men, were dismissed to begin deliberations just after 3:00PM; three alternate jurors were also chosen.
