BRISTOL, R.I. (AP) – A former Bristol police officer has been charged with breaking into a neighbor’s home and stealing prescription medication.
WPRI reports that court documents say Spencer Parks was recognized by police when a Warren couple brought in surveillance video of a suspect breaking into their home.
The 27-year-old Parks turned himself in on March 28, one day after the crime is alleged to have taken place.
A phone number could not be found for Parks and it was not known Tuesday morning if he’s represented by a lawyer.
Police say he’s accused of stealing 16 grams of a medication that helps people suffering from opioid dependence. He was charged with felony breaking and entering and larceny of less than $1,500.
Bristol Police Chief Josue Canario confirmed that Parks resigned following his arrest.
