PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – Providence police are investigating the city’s first homicide of the year.
Maj. David Lapatin says the body of 24-year-old Ashley Masi was found in a third-floor apartment on River Avenue on Tuesday evening. She was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
A baby was also in the apartment but was unhurt.
Officers responded to the home after getting a 911 call from a relative at about 5 p.m.
Police did not immediately disclose the cause of death. There was no word on suspects or arrests.
