THE FORMER SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE makes a deal for three years in the slammer. He pleads guilty to bribery, wire and tax fraud. The stories emanate from his days on the Providence board of licenses (booze)..and his pilfering of his campaign funds.
And all this is a big surprise to the political world.
Our new governor runs through the cliches about how sad a day it is. Same kind of crap from the now house speaker. But the truth is they were aware of his shenanigans at different levels a long time ago.
The governor walked the streets of the east side with Gordon Fox ..endorsed him and helped him get elected. All this while he was known to be under federal investigation regrading the Providence Economic Development Partnership and his legal work there..a probe which led to the jam he’s in now.
Rather than offer her disgust and damn her own role in propping him up…and then demanding real reforms from the GA and a true probe on 38 Studios (which Fox is dead in the middle of)..she resorts to cliches about jobs to restore the people’ faith in government.
Disappointing.
Something tells me this isn’t the last you’ll hear about Fox and the case. Three years is light. Chirping might be involved.
THE PROVIDENCE PAWSOX STADIUM project may actually be a good one.
But the phones lines were ripping with doubters, thinking the fix is in and corruption would dominate the deal. That’s because we have no leadership to restore faith…
BENJAMIN NETANYAHU made a great speech Tuesday..hope you heard it. Our junior senator Sheldon Whitehouse took a pass..getting all caught up in politics. Ridiculous.
VINCE WILFORK let go by the Pats. It’s a cold world.
