Governor Gina Raimondo teamed up with meals on wheels to kick off their month-long campaign March for Meals.
The Meals on Wheels campaign encourages local communities to take action to raise awareness of senior hunger.
“There’s a lot of people in Rhode Island struggling, a lot of seniors who don’t have anybody to look out for them, don’t have anybody to bring them food, so we’ve got to pull together and take care of everybody,” said Raimondo.
The Governor personally delivered food to a woman named Dorothy Dalatu, and the two chatted about the lingering winter.
“She was happy for the food, but I think happy for the company, somebody to check in on her and make sure she is doing ok,” said Raimondo.
Members of Rhode Island’s congressional delegation will also participate in the campaign, along with mayors throughout the state.
