FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) – Prosecutors in the Massachusetts murder trial of former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez are asking the judge to let them tell jurors that he was involved in the shooting of a friend in Florida.
Superior Court Judge Susan Garsh ruled in December that prosecutors couldn’t do that.
But in a filing Monday, prosecutors said she should reconsider because the defense has argued Hernandez wouldn’t shoot a friend. He’s charged in the 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd, who was dating the sister of Hernandez’s fiancee.
Prosecutors say Hernandez and Alexander Bradley argued over the tab that February at a Miami strip club.
According to the filing, Bradley said he insulted Hernandez. Bradley said he was then driven to an industrial area, where he was shot between the eyes and dumped.
