North Providence Police say the deaths of a man and woman found inside their home on Hobson Avenue was the result of a murder suicide.
According to police, officers found Robin Dube, 48, and Michael Dube, 52, at about 10 a.m. Tuesday after a co-worker reported Michael hadn’t come to work.
“Mr. Dube succumbed to a apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound; a Colt .22-caliber, semi-automatic handgun was also recovered at the scene. Ms. Dube suffered multiple stab wounds and died as a result of those injuries,” said Chief Christopher Pelagio.
A note was left at the scene but Pelagio refused to comment on its contents.
Pelagio said police had responded to the residence multiple times in years prior for reports of domestic disputes, however no arrests were ever made. Police had also visited the residence in 2012 for a 911 hang-up call, but it was determined no crime was committed.
Police say the last time the couple was in contact with anyone outside their home was on January 26.
