After the announcement that Education Commissioner Deborah Gist would be accepting an education position in Tulsa Oklahoma, rumors of former candidate for governor Clay Pell taking her place began to swirl. However Governor Gina Raimondo said he is not being considered.
“There’s no truth to that, we aren’t looking at him,” said Raimondo.
Raimondo said she will be speaking to members of the education community to find the best possible replacements for Gist.
Nothing is more important than educating our kids, every child in Rhode Island deserves a quality, free, public education and I’m going to find the best person I possibly can.”
Gist was offered the job has the Superintendent of Tulsa Public Schools on Monday.
