Education Commissioner Deborah Gist is now the lone candidate in the running to become Tulsa Oklahoma’s next superintendent after a fellow candidate withdrew himself from consideration.
Fox 23 reports Millard House II informed the school board Friday he would no longer be pursuing the position after consulting with family and friends.
When asked for a statement, Gist spokesperson said the Commissioner, “looks forward to hearing from the Tulsa School Board following its meeting on Monday night.”
Gist put her name in for consideration after she was approached by officials in Tulsa. The Commisioner said the offer was “too exciting of an opportunity to forgo.” However it is still not clear if Gist will accept the position.
The school board has scheduled a special meeting to take place on February 2.
