In their first press conference since the “deflate gate” controversy came to light, New England Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick and Quarterback Tom Brady denied any knowledge of footballs being tampered with during the AFC Championship win.
Belichick said he was shocked to hear 11 out of the 12 footballs given to the Patriots for the playoff game against the Colts were under-inflated by two pounds.
The 15-year head coach told reporters that he never touches the footballs during the game and knows little about the preference players have regarding the feel of a game ball.
Likewise, Brady said the involvement he has with the footballs before game time is selecting which ones he likes before they are handed off to the referees.
“When I felt them they were perfect,” said Brady referring to the 12 balls he selected on Sunday.
“I would never do anything to break the rules,” said Brady.
Brady said he had no knowledge of who tampered with the footballs and that he has not yet been contacted by the NFL.
“I felt like we won the game fair and square.”
