Pawtucket Mayor Donald Grebien says he and his administration are still in the dark on whether or not the PawSox will be packing their bags and head elsewhere.
“There is definitely something happening, we don’t know what,” said Grebien.
The pot was stirred by the Boston Globe back in November when they revealed the tentative owners of the PawSox were interested in moving the Triple A ball club out of Rhode Island. Since then, residents have grown concerned over the team’s departure and even Governor Gina Raimondo said she would do her best to keep the franchise in-state.
As a resident of Pawtucket, Grebien said he is worried about the future, but also sees the flip-side of the coin.
“They’re a business, they’re an organization, they’re trying to get they’re house in order,” said Grebien.
“We don’t know what they’re business model is and until we know that it’s kind of frustrating for us to figure out what we can offer.”
