COVENTRY, R.I. (AP) – The board of the Coventry Fire District has received an investigative report on the conduct of its suspended chief but did not disclose its findings.
The Providence Journal reports that the board launched its investigation in response to a WPRI-TV story in October.
Labbadia was accused of consuming alcohol and playing golf during the work day and using his fire district vehicle for recreation.
Labbadia has denied wrongdoing and said he’s on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The district’s report, received by the board at a closed session Tuesday, remained off-limits to the public after the board’s chairman, Frank Palin, said the panel saw no reason to move hastily.
He said officials believe it would be reasonable to take their time.
