PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – An elections official says a Providence voter who complained of mail ballot tampering has been told she can cast a vote at the polls.
Robert Kando, executive director of the Board of Elections, says on Monday the board determined a ballot was cast in a woman’s name, but not by her.
He said he couldn’t remember details about the woman or where she lived, but said her complaint had been reported on in the press.
The Boston Globe reported last week that at least one resident in an elderly housing complex in Fox Point had her blank ballot taken from her.
State Police are investigating that incident and at least one incident at a homeless shelter involving two Providence police officers who allegedly tried to take a blank mail ballot.
