PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – The three candidates for Rhode Island governor are meeting for another live televised debate with a week to go before Election Day.
Democrat Gina Raimondo, Republican Allan Fung and the Moderate Party’s Robert Healey are meeting Tuesday evening at Roger Williams University in Bristol for a debate airing on WLNE-TV.
Raimondo is continuing to focus on job creation and the economy. She has had trouble consolidating support from some labor union members angry over her state pension overhaul.
Fung says his plan to make the state more economically competitive is resonating. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie campaigned with him earlier Tuesday, and first lady Michelle Obama is coming to the state for Raimondo on Thursday.
A new Brown University poll showed Raimondo and Fung in a statistical tie.
