PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – Health officials are reaching out to travelers from Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea who say they are going to Rhode Island after passing through one of five U.S. airports.
Under a new federal rule, travelers from the three countries at the heart of the Ebola outbreak must enter the United States through the airports that are doing special screenings and fever checks for Ebola.
A health department official says Rhode Island received the names of six people who said they were going to Rhode Island next. Brittan Bates-Manni said the department asked them to take their temperature and get in contact if they show any symptoms of Ebola.
Bates-Manni said she wants to give the travelers a “direct link” to the department. She expects to receive more names.
