PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – Providence Republican mayoral candidate Dan Harrop is complaining that large campaign signs for his independent opponent, Buddy Cianci, violate city ordinances.
Harrop sent a letter to the city solicitor’s office last week complaining about the signs. He said Monday that he has estimated they measure about 50 square feet, more than three times larger than the 16 square feet the city ordinance allows.
He says he wants the signs taken down.
Cianci’s campaign did not immediately return messages seeking comment.
A spokeswoman for the city says an inspector has looked at the property cited in Harrop’s letter and is notifying the homeowner that the signs violate city ordinance.
She did not immediately return a message asking if any other properties had been cited.
