FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) – Lawyers for Aaron Hernandez want copies of any surveillance of ex-New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez made while they were at a local police station after Odin Lloyd’s body was discovered.
The defense asked Tuesday that copies of any video and audio recordings from the North Attleborough police station be turned over. A court filing says there “may or may not be” recordings made without the parties’ consent and that the surveillance could violate attorney-client privilege, Hernandez’s due process rights and Massachusetts’ wiretapping statute.
A state trooper testified during a recent motion hearing that police were able to discern through a video recording a number Hernandez dialed on a phone while he was outside with his attorneys.
Hernandez has pleaded not guilty in the fatal shooting of Lloyd in June 2013.
BOSTON (AP) – Former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez has been a model inmate since being moved to a Boston jail and will be allowed to watch his former teammates on television if his behavior continues.
Suffolk County Sheriff Steven Tompkins tells the Boston Herald there have been “no problems, no complaints,” and Hernandez is mingling with the general population at the Nashua Street Jail.
Hernandez is jailed without bail after pleading not guilty to killing three people in two unconnected shootings.
He was moved to Boston from a Bristol County jail to be closer to his lawyers.
While in the Bristol jail, he had been confined to his cell 21 hours a day, was not allowed to watch football, and reportedly had a run-in with another inmate and threatened a guard.
