Providence Police responded to Hasbro Children’s Hospital late Tuesday morning to initial reports that a fifteen-month old male had been shot; when they arrived they discovered the child had been hit by a car.
“The child had maybe gotten out of his apartment and made his way into the driveway, one of the other tenants was leaving for work this morning and accidently struck the child,” said Providence Police Commander Oates.
“At this point we don’t believe at the time of the accident she was even aware she had struck the child.”
The child’s father witnessed the accident and immediately rushed him to the hospital.
The child is listed in critical condition.
