North Providence police have charged a man in connection to the Elliot Avenue shooting which left a man dead and his mother critically injured.
Police arrested and charged 24-year old Dari Max Garcia with first degree murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, burglary and other charges.
Richard Catalano was shot and killed and his mother wounded when Garcia broke into the home late Sunday night. Police are investigating whether or not Catalano and Garcia knew one another.
Police arrested Garcia at the scene of the crime where they discovered him lying behind the bedroom door after suffering an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to the police report.
Garcia was arraigned Monday night at Rhode Island hospital.
