CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) – Cranston police say a 15-year-old boy is recovering after being stabbed while on a nighttime walk near an elementary school.
Police say the boy was walking at around 10 p.m. Wednesday near the Stone Hill Elementary School when it happened.
The boy told police someone wearing a sweatshirt with the hood drawn closed over his face came up from behind, grabbed him by the shoulder to turn him around and stabbed him in the left abdomen. He told police he didn't know the attacker.
Police say they found the weapon and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
The boy was brought to Hasbro Children's Hospital, and police say he had injuries that are non-life threatening.
