The Coast Guard House in Narragansett still isn’t completely back to the way it was before Superstorm Sandy but Co-Owner Robert Leonard says it will be coming back.
“Everybody asked, you know, are you gonna re-build and there was no question about that. This place is part of Rhode Island’s history, we employ a lot of people and there was no question we wanted to re-build and we want to make it better than it’s ever been,” said Leonard.
Leonard described the beloved spot as a mess after the storm. He said there was furniture on the street, holes in the walls and more.
“We expect to be open probably at the end of the season unfortunately. Downstairs at least. We’ll be open on the deck hopefully this weekend. But it probably will take us until September to get the downstairs done,”
He says some things will be different when they re-open. The kitchen and bar will be in different locations and the bar will now have a view of Narragansett beach.
