One person is dead following an accident on Tuesday morning. Warwick Police responded to Main Ave for the accident involving a truck and a motorcycle.
“It appears that the pick up truck was able to safely cross over the East bound lane and apparently did not see the motorcyclist who was in one of the two West bound lanes. We were not able to pin point if the motorcyclist was in the left hand lane or the right hand lane, but it appears the pick up truck was trying to cross over all four lanes to go onto Covington Drive which is directly across from, almost diagonally across from the exit of the shell gas station,” said Lt. Michael Gilbert.
The 25-year-old motorcyclist from Warwick was transported to Rhode Island hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The operator of the truck, Sal Biscardi, 58, was not injured. Lt. Gilbert says that at this time it doesn’t look like alcohol or speed were factors in the collision.
“It does appear based on the investigation that he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. 25-years-old, very sad,” said Lt. Gilbert.
The identity of the victim has not been released yet pending full notification to the family.
