As first reported by the Daily Mail, the Boston Marathon bombing suspect that was killed in a late night shootout, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, was the husband of North Kingstown's Katherine Russell. He was also the father of her child.
Judith Russell, mother of Katherine, gave this typed statement to WPRO Friday afternoon:
"Our daughter lost her husband today, the father of her child."
We cannot begin to comprehend how this horrible tragedy occurred. In the aftermath of the Patriot's Day horror, we know that we never really knew Tamerlane [sic] Tsarnaev.
Our hearts are sickened by the knowledge of the horror he has inflicted.
Please respect our privacy in this difficult time."
