Rhode Island’s unemployment rate continues to tick down, coming it at 9.1% in March, the lowest it’s been since November 2008.
The number of unemployed resident, people who are available for and actively seeking employment, was 51,100, down nearly 2,000 from February. This drop continues a nine-month decrease in Rhode Island’s unemployed.
But the number of employed residents also decreased, dropping 500 from February to 507,800 in March. Overall, the number of employed Rhode Islanders is up from March 2012.
Rhode Island also added 1,500 jobs in the last month, the fourth largest increase in the last five months.
