PET SHOW: The 19th Annual Pet Show is this weekend at the Rhode Island Convention Center. The show will feature a showcase of pet products and services as well as a wide variety of animals. There will be AKC and Rare Breed dog shows as well as Cat Association shows, as well as pets up for adoption. The Pet Show runs Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors and $4 for children under 12.
BLUE MAN GROUP: The Blue Man Group’s performances are a feast for the senses. The troupe will be at PPAC from Friday to Sunday, with five performances at various times throughout the weekend. The Blue Man Group may not use any spoken words in their show, but their infections drum rhythms and physical performances are entertainment enough. More info at www.ppacri.org.
THEATRE: Ocean State Theatre Company’s production of “Rent” continues this weekend at their new theater on Jefferson Boulevard in Warwick. The paly follows a group of friends in New York City in the 1990’s, at the height of the AIDS/HIV pandemic. Read my review of the show here or visit www.oceanstatetheatre.com for more info.

MUSIC: Forward Motion, a funk and soul band, will play the The Apartment Friday night at 8 p.m. The band has been influenced by his jazz and rock backgrounds, and according to their website, Forward Motion is “determined to create original and honest music that is both story driven and constantly evolving. “ More information at forwardmotionmusic.com
FOOD AND DRINK: The Stephen Marra Foundation, the group formed to honor the memory of the late restauranteur, will hold a wine tasting Saturday, March 2 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Twist Restaurant in Warwick. The wine tasting will benefit victims of Sandy Hook, Toys for Tots, Pawtuxet Valley Homeless Advocacy and the East Greenwich Animal Protection League. The event, called “Wine and Song,” will also feature a performance by Steven Palumbo, a guest appearance by TV Matre d’ Joe Zito, a silent auction and hors d’oeuvres. Tickets are $30 at the door. Twist is located at 336 Bald Hill Road, Warwick.
