Ethen Harrison, the man charged with the murder of his girlfriend’s nine-month-old baby in January, entered a non-guilty plea Tuesday in New Bedford Federal District Court.
Harrison, 23, is charged with one count of murder in connection with the January 24 death of 9-month-old Ariel Eluziario in New Bedford.
Harrison lived with the deceased infant's mother, but he is not the child's biological father.
During Harrison's January 25 arraignment for charges of reckless endangerment and assault and battery, Assistant District Attorney Stephen Nadeau told the court that on January 24 at around 6 p.m., Ariel was transported to St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford by private vehicle. Ariel was then Med Flight transferred to Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence, R.I. for surgery. She was pronounced dead shortly after.
“He was frustrated because the child was fussy,” prosecutor Stephen Nadeau told WPRO on Tuesday. Harrison told police he threw the child on the bed and she bounced off, hitting her head on the floor.
Harrison agreed to be held without bail until his March 25 court date.
