Rhode Island’s minimum wage earners are seeing a bump in their hourly wage by 35 cents this year.
The increase from $7.40 to $7.75 an hour became effective on Tuesday. According to the Associated Press, about 10,000 people make minimum wage in Rhode Island.
The raise comes after a vote last year by the General Assembly to increase the minimum wage. It is the first increase since 2007.
