An investigation is underway after a baby was found alone in a Cranston Dollar Store.
Cranston police say the 1 ½ year old child was discovered at the end of an isle in a stroller and attempts to find a parent or a guardian were unsuccessful.
“The child was a bit lethargic and recue personal was concerned. The child was taken to Hasbro Children’s Hospital,” said Colonel Marco Palombo.
Police say about 30 minutes after the call for the found child a woman reported her child missing at Cranston Police Headquarters. The initial investigation revealed that she was the baby’s mother.
“We need to know how this happened. Why the child was left the way he was left and how the mother ended up at headquarters believing the child was lost. So that’s where the investigation is at this juncture,” said Palombo.
