Former 2010 Attorney General Candidate and former West Warwick probate Judge Robert Rainville was arrested in East Greenwich for an altercation with his wife at his home on November 17 at midnight.
“The case is pending and we are confident that our client will be fully exonerated. There is no merit to this to this charge,” said Emile Martineau, Rainville’s attorney.
According to police logs printed by The East Greenwich Pendulum and the East Greenwich Patch Rainville was arrested after his wife called police following a minor altercation. She said she got in an argument with Rainville after he got a ride home from someone she didn’t know and she questioned him.
She alleges that he pushed her into the house and while she was holding her one-year-old son he grabbed and twisted her hand while he had keys in his hand causing a small cut on her hand. She claims he told her, “if you put the baby down, I will drop you.”
Rainville is charged with the misdemeanor offense of domestic-simple assault or battery and obstructing an officer in execution of duty.
According to the Rhode Island Court Connect website Rainville was arraigned on November 30. He has a pre-trial conference set for December 7 in the 3rd District Court.
