2. John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band at the Narrows Center, Saturday, May 18
The legendary “East Coast Rock’n’Roll” group John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band began their career in 1972 and achieved mainstream success in the 1980s with the “Eddie & The Cruisers – Motion Picture Soundtrack”. The hit single “On the Dark Side” held the “Number-One” position on the Billboard Rock charts and the MTV video charts for “five” consecutive weeks. The album sold over 3 million copies and was certified triple Platinum by the RIAA.
3. Duke Robillard and his All Star Band at the Met, Sunday May 19
This show celebrates the international release of Robillard’s new album Ear Worms at The Met in Pawtucket on May 19th. With featured guests Chris Cote, Mark Cutler, Sunny Crownover, Klem Klimek, Dave Howard, Marnie Hall, Baxter Hall, Along with Jack Gauthier and Ben Andrews on Guitar.
4. The 2019 Oyster Festival at Bowen’s Wharf in Newport May 17-19
Moët & Chandon together with Bowen’s Wharf Company are proud to present the 4th Annual Newport Oyster Festival! Taste your way around the Ocean State. We can picture it now: you, enjoying Champagne & Oysters, on the waterfront, all weekend long! Did you know that RI is home to upwards of 45 oyster farms? The flavors are distinctive to each farm so this is your big chance to savor many of them all in one festive atmosphere! Growers will be shucking alongside a select group of local restaurants, sweets vendors, Murphy Knives and others under festival tents. Tickets will go on sale in March and will include some free oysters and a beverage from our sponsors. You can also shop for favorites as you find them, meet the growers, and learn all about aquaculture. Restaurants that have RI oysters on their menus are included in the Rhode Island Oyster Trail. Sunday will see the return of the Shucking Contest at 3pm, supported in part by The Nature Conservancy of RI!
5. Food Truck Friday at the Roger Williams Park Zoo – May 17 after 5pm
One of the best things about the warmer weather is Food Truck Friday at the Carousel. Come experience the array of foods and delicious sweets from a variety of vendors at this magnificent event. Take a ride on the historic Carousel, hop onboard the Carousel Express train, or enjoy a pony ride (weather permitting). Plus, admission is free! Picnic and high top tables are available on a limited basis so bring a chair or blanket, and sit on the lawn. Food Trucks accept cash, credit, and debit. More info HERE.
