Just before the one-year anniversary of the $444.5 million computer debacle at the Department of Human Services known as UHIP (Unified Health Infrastructure Program) , WPRO’s Tara Granahan has learned of more screw-ups. Rep. Patricia Serpa told Tara of a federal on-site inspection back in March by the Food and Nutrition Service that went undisclosed and could cost the state “well into 6-figures.” That faux-pas involved “over-issuance” of food stamp monies.
While describing her disappointment with yet another problem involving UHIP, Rep. Serpa said she’s gearing up for Thursday night’s House Oversight hearing where the committee must keep “our feet on their throats” after the latest developments.
