In an ongoing war of words, Brandon Bell tells WPRO’s Tara Granahan that Hillary Clinton’s comments Friday night about Donald Trump supporters is the “height of hypocrisy”. Bell said, as the democratic presidential candidate addressed a crowd of wealthy donors at a fundraiser, Clinton’s statements became a “perfect storm… if you’re against her candidacy.”
On Friday evening, the former Secretary of State said, “To just be grossly generalistic, you can put half of Trump supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables.”
“Right? Racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic, you name it.” She added: “And unfortunately, there are people like that and he has lifted them up. He has given voice to their websites that used to only have 11,000 people, now have 11 million. He tweets and retweets offensive, hateful, mean-spirited rhetoric.”
Bell told Granahan that by insulting millions of Americans Clinton only boosts Trump’s candidacy. The Republican presidential candidate pounced Monday on Clinton and launched a new attack ad and said the remarks disqualify Clinton from the presidency.
