PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A Massachusetts man has pleaded no contest to charges he falsely collected unemployment insurance benefits while working in Rhode Island.
Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Kilmartin says 46-year-old Edward Cicciu, of Fall River, was sentenced Tuesday to five years of probation and was ordered to pay restitution. He pleaded no contest to obtaining money under false pretenses for collecting $15,444 in unemployment insurance benefits while he was employed.
Prosecutors say Cicciu failed to accurately report his earnings to the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training between February 22, 2014 and August 21, 2014. Prosecutors say Cicciu was working for two car dealerships in Rhode Island one dealership in Massachusetts at the time.
