(AP)- A Rhode Island state lawmaker says he made mistakes on ethics forms but insists he lives in his legislative district after a news investigation questioned his residency.
Democratic state Rep. John Carnevale spoke to reporters Tuesday on the floor of the House of Representatives.
He says he “100 percent” lives in the Providence home where he’s registered to vote.
WPRI-TV reported Carnevale owns a Johnston home he hadn’t declared on ethics filings until a few hours before the station’s story ran Monday.
The station repeatedly visited the home during a monthslong investigation and found Carnevale and his vehicles there. Video shows Carnevale masking his face with a T-shirt after spotting the news crew outside the house.
Rhode Island Republican Party Chairman Brandon Bell says he’s filed a complaint with the Providence Board of Canvassers.
