Governor-Elect Gina Raimondo say she’s not sure Citizens Bank has been in talks to move their corporate headquarters into the vacant Superman Building. This comes after an online report earlier this week said Citizens was eyeing the downtown skyscraper.
Currently, Citizens Bank is located at One Citizens Plaza in downtown Providence. When asked about the possibility of moving, Citizens Bank spokeswoman Lauren Digeronimo said “we don’t comment on speculation.”

“There are many companies that would want to be in that building if we can put the right package on the table,” said Raimondo Thursday.

Newly-elected Mayor Jorge Elorza tells WPRO that he is optimistic the building will be filled during his tenure as mayor.

“We have to do whatever we can to keep businesses here in the state and here in the city,” said Elorza. “We’ll be talking with all the folks necessary; the numbers have to work for everyone involved but we’re going to do everything we can to keep those jobs and those businesses and those people here.”

He plans to make the occupation of the Superman Building a priority of his administration. He also predicts filling the Superman Building will benefit all of the surrounding businesses.
Raimondo says she plans to work closely with the Elorza administration to fill the building through a deal that benefits all parties involved.
