PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Police have arrested a man they say fired shots at officers who were trying to control a crowd outside a Providence nightclub.
It happened early Friday morning, when around 40 people were seen running from the Aqua Lounge. Officers saw two people fighting and intervened to break up the crowd.
Shortly after, police say the officers heard several shots fired in their general direction from a black sedan, which sped off.
Police chased the car onto Route 10. It then crashed, and police say the suspect tried to run but was caught.
The suspect’s name has not been released. He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with minor injuries.
No officers were hurt.
