PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A Providence nightclub has been using flashing lights to say goodnight to the kids at Hasbro Children’s Hospital.
The Providence Journal reports that Hot Club staffers have been turning the bright red neon sign on and off four times at 8:30 p.m. The four blinks mean “Good Night Hasbro Hospital.”
The children at Hasbro are encouraged to flicker lights in their rooms to show appreciation.
Steven Brosnihan, a cartoonist who serves on the board of the Tomorrow Fund, says he got the idea when he realized he could see his bus stop from their windows. He would turn his bike light on and off to say goodnight.
He eventually asked the nightclub to do the same once a week.
Brosnihan says the message is: “We know you are there and we’re thinking of you.”
