EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A third city in Rhode Island is now offering places where residents can safely exchange items that were bought online.
WPRI-TV reports the East Providence Police Department has two designated areas where people can make transactions — one in the parking lot in front of the police station and another in the lobby.
Exchanges can be made during regular business hours.
East Providence police also are offering to check serial numbers for certain items to see if they have been reported stolen.
Police departments in Pawtucket and Cranston offer safe zones as well, but they do not offer serial number checks.
