Police are looking into the unsolved 1994 murder of a man found floating in the Providence River.
Chansay Sayavong, 29, had been bludgeoned to death near a sea wall in Cranston’s Edgewood neighborhood and then and thrown into the water, according to police.
His body was found on Feb. 4, 1994. Sayavong was last seen leaving his Providence residence at around 8 p.m. the previous day. His car, a red, 1985 Dodge Colt, was also found burning on Route 6 in Johnston on Feb. 4.
Cranston police say the Sayavong murder is among the cold cases they’re reviving in the hopes of finding new leads. They are urging anyone with relevant information to contact the Special Victims Unit by phone, the Cranston police Facebook page or the department website.
