Rhode Island College has named a state-of-the-art technology center after a congressman.
WPRI-TV reports the college honored Rep. Jim Langevin during a ceremony Saturday. The congressman is an alumnus who graduated from the college in 1990.
The college says the James. R. Langevin Center for Design, Innovation and Advanced Manufacturing will provide “state-of-the-art technology” for students and offer training space for manufacturing business. It’s equipped with two robots and multiple 3-D printers. The equipment and renovations to the center were funded by external donations.
Langevin says the school ignited a passion for learning and laid the foundation for his career in public service.
