PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (AP) – Police have identified a Portsmouth woman who was found stabbed to death in her apartment.
Police said Thursday the victim was 42-year-old Yolanda Mcardle.
Fifty-year-old Raymond Ramsey, described by police as Mcardle’s boyfriend, has been charged with domestic murder and violating a restraining order. He is being held without bail.
A formal arraignment will be scheduled in Newport district court.
It was not known Thursday if Ramsey is represented by a lawyer.
Police say an officer responded to a report of a disturbance Tuesday at a Portsmouth apartment and found Mcardle dead from multiple stab wounds. Ramsey was arrested at the scene and taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
WJAR-TV reports Ramsey was arrested three months ago on his third domestic violence charge and ordered to stay away from Mcardle.
