UPDATE: Police release photo of suspect in killing of convenience store owner

Fall River Police issued a flyer with a photo of a suspect in the October 18, 2021 killing of a convenience store owner.

The owner of a Massachusetts convenience store found by a customer on the floor of his business with an apparent gunshot wound to the chest has died, and police have issued a poster describing his suspected killer.

Authorities said Tuesday that 54-year-old Lal Kishor Mahaseth was found inside the Stop N Save store in Fall River at about 10:30 p.m.

The person who called 911 had entered the store to purchase food and found the victim on the floor behind the counter with blood on his chest.

Mahaseth was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The death remains under investigation and authorities have not announced any arrests.

Late Tuesday, police issued a ‘wanted’ posted with a photograph of a suspect, clad in dark colored clothing, describing him as male, 20 to 30 years old with light complexion, 5’7″ to 5’9″, with a gray backpack, gray Nike sneakers with black and white accents and a tattoo on the right inner portion of his hand near the thumb.

Fall River Police and Massachusetts State Police ask anyone with information to call them, or to call an anonymous tip line at (508) 672-TIPS.
