BOSTON (AP) — Gov. Charlie Baker received his COVID-19 vaccine Tuesday.

The Republican governor got his first dose of the vaccine at Boston’s Hynes Convention Center at about 2:30 p.m.

He received a dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

The 64-year-old Baker has repeatedly said he would not move to the head of the vaccination line and would wait until he was eligible under federal guidelines.

Baker said he preregistered and was notified last week that he could receive the vaccine.

Baker said the vaccine is key to ending the pandemic and he’ll return to the Hynes to receive his second shot.
